The JDRF TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes is very important to us because Amanda lived with Type 1 diabetes. We want to raise awareness and money so we can get closer to finding a cure and preventing others from having to live with this disease in the future.
Amanda was all about causes and making a difference in the lives of others. We know that she is proud of all of us and will be walking with us on June 14th in the 2009 TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes. Thank you for all your support and love and we hope to see all of you walking with us as well at Pier 4 Park, Hamilton, Ontario on June 14th!!

Stories about Amanda:
Amanda was always willing to help others no matter what the cost was to her or how it affected her physically or mentally.
On September 28th 2007, Amanda didn't hesitate to take part in the Salvation Army 'Walk in the Park' to help raise awareness and help stop homelessness in Hamilton. This was an important event for me because not only was it with the Salvation Army but it was also my brother's event. Amanda slept over at Bayfront park; helping to raise money, interacting and helping many people that came and took part in this event. I have never been more proud or respectful to take part in this great cause with Amanda and it just is one of many stories that showed how selfless and caring Amanda was in all she did.
Amanda had a great passion for life and loved to share each day with friends and family. Amanda lived each day to the fullest and was always helping others and affecting the lives of everyone she came into contact with.
I love you Amanda and am so proud of you. I am honored that I get to walk and be passionate - with you and everyone who loves you - with all that I have and raise money/awareness to help a cause that affected you . It is one way that I can help to repay the love and generosity that you showed me from the moment that we met when were kids way back in Grade Six.

Amanda was the best sister anyone could ever ask for. She was always there for you, helping you out, buying you things. She was smart, funny, pretty. There isn't just one word that would describe her. I don't think anybody disliked her. Even though I was a pain sometimes, she still let me do things with her. I wanted to be just like her. She was such a willing person, always thinking about people before herself. Even thought Amanda was 6 years older than me, we were still really close.
